You might be wondering what the term ‘Combination Types’ mean, but believe it or not, it is a common feature. Indeed most women have a combination skin type.
Combination skin occurs when some part of your skin areas are greasy, while others are dry. The T-Zone which comprises of the cheeks, nose, forehead, and chin tend to be oily, while other facial areas tend to be dry.
Women with combination skin have pores that are open in the T-Zone; they are likely to have an oily skin texture in the T-Zone but a firm forehead or smooth cheeks. Due to a lack of sebaceous activity, dehydrated patches can be seen on the cheeks and forehead.
They can also have a shiny nose, forehead and chin, and normally dry skin around the eyes, neck and outer areas of the cheeks. This may result in blemishes and blackheads in the T-Zone.
As such, women with a combination skin type should always use a liquid foundation that is particularly suited for the oily and dry skin of the face.
How To Determine Whether You Have A Combination Skin Type
- Appearance of dry patches as well as some oily patches
- Oily T-Zone and patches of dry skin on the cheeks.
- Some parts of the face feel dry while others feel smooth after washing.
- At around midday, the T-Zone tends to become shiny with oil.
- Skin generally cracks around the T-Zone, while the rest of the skin on the face and neck remains dry.
